For anyone interested in the Security and Compliance features in Office 365, Preservation policies are not something new. They have been around for a while now as part of the Compliance/Protection center. Some recent additions are worth mentioning however. First, we get support for Modern groups. The Preservation lock feature is now officially GA, allowing Microsoft to meet the criteria for compliance with the SEC rule 17A-4. In a nutshell, the Preservation lock feature allows you to immutably preserve data in a way that no one in the company can override. Not even the company administrators.
Lastly, we get PowerShell support across the board now, and every operation related to Preservation policies can be automated. This of course is very important for large enterprises, and this is the topic I explore. Read the full article on ENow’s Solutions Engine blog.
